NCB Now: Young inspectors to improve influence

1 min read
The Youth4U - Young Inspectors Programme run by Look Listen Change and hosted by NCB works with organisations across England to give young people greater influence over services in their local area.

The programme is being rolled out in over 30 areas and involves 904 young people. Young people are trained to inspect local services and produce recommendations on how services can be improved to ensure that they are more young people-friendly. The young people then revisit the service six months later to see if the changes have been made.

A team of young inspectors from Mitcham, Surrey carried out an inspection at a leaving care team, which included visiting the premises and interviewing staff members. The young people made over 30 recommendations on how the service could become more young person-friendly, such as making the reception area more welcoming and ensuring information on the website is clear and up-to-date.
