NCB Now: What do children want from a building?

1 min read
Nineteen young people aged 12 to 16 had the chance to express their views on what makes a good building during a consultation day organised by the Children's Centre Project (CCP) on 22 January.

The NCB-based project, a partnership of children's charities, plans to develop a flagship building for the children's sector in London. It held the event to gather young people's views on what features the new building should include.

During the consultation, which was funded by Bridge House Trust, the young people visited either Peckham Library, Bloomberg's Finsbury Square offices or the Ideastore, a modern library in East London. They were asked to explore the building, noting down how it made them feel and any features they particularly liked.

A number of the young people said colour affected their mood. One commented: "It makes you more alert, doesn't make you tired," while another said: "I was happy because of the colours."
