NCB Now: Upcoming issues for Parliamentary group

NCB provides support for the All Party Parliamentary Group for Children, which since its establishment in the 1980s has played a significant role in reporting on conditions for children in care, the passage of the Children Acts, introducing video-links in child abuse trials, and the campaign for children's commissioners in the UK.

The group is made up of around 200 peers and MPs interested in issuesthat affect children and young people. It meets regularly and members ofthe children's voluntary and statutory sector are welcome to attend, aswell as representatives from government departments.

The latest meeting on 26 June discussed the role of directors ofchildren's services.

Future meetings in July will be on: information sharing and assessmenton 10 July; the establishment, and functions of the role of thechildren's commissioner for England on 11 July; and on 12 July therewill be a joint meeting with the All Party Parliamentary Group forRefugees on refugee children in detention.
