NCB Now: Seminar to look at disability services

1 min read
Professionals attending a seminar in Bolton on 1 February will discuss the development of the children's trust pathfinders and their work on supporting disabled children's services.

The seminar is part of a project recently undertaken by the Council for Disabled Children, based at NCB, aimed at maximising the knowledge gained from the trusts.

During the two-year scheme, which is being funded by the Department for Education and Skills, the council will work in partnership with the children's trust national policy team and Contact a Family to identify issues surrounding the trusts' development and promote the involvement of families.

The council, together with NCB's research department, will run discussion panels for disabled young people to gather their views on the trusts.

"Almost half of England's 35 pathfinders are focusing on disabled children. This allows them to address some of the greatest challenges to providing high-quality, multi-agency services," said Helen Wheatley, a senior development officer at the council. "We hope their work will be used to improve services across the country."
