NCB Now: Russell continues as disability champion

Philippa Russell, former director of the Council for Disabled Children and NCB's disability consultant, has been re-appointed as a commissioner to the Disability Rights Commission for three more years, the Government has announced.

She was originally appointed in April 2000 when the commission was established as an independent body to stop discrimination and promote equality for disabled people.

Throughout her career Philippa has undertaken extensive work in the field of childhood disability.

"The commission plays a vital role in improving the life chances of the 9.8m disabled people in the UK. I feel privileged to be involved in their work, at a time of major change in public services," she said.
