There is good evidence that school-based sex and relationshipseducation, particularly linked to contraceptive services, contributes toreducing teenage pregnancy rates.
With an increasing number of schools developing innovative ways ofworking with sexual health services, the Teenage Pregnancy Unit at theDepartment for Education and Skills commissioned the Sex Education Forumto establish a Schools and Services Network.
The email network enables professionals to share information and goodpractice, and to provide mutual support.
Information gathered via the network will be collated and posted onlinethrough the Sex Education Forum web site.
Building on the success of the project, the forum is extending this workto further education colleges.
The aim is to ensure that all colleges in England have the informationand support to develop appropriate and effective sexual healthprogrammes. Case studies of successful schemes will be conducted andinformation will also be shared via the Sex Education Forum website.
