The Sex Education Forum (SEF), based at NCB, has published a new resource pack for the provision of on-site sexual health services in secondary schools.
As services in schools have become increasingly widespread, professionals have raised questions about the practicalities of setting up good quality provision in the school setting. This toolkit, based on a series of workshops held around the country, is in response to requests for practical and strategic support. The pack includes case studies, examples of good practice, a range of service models, and tips from practitioners who have experience of setting up school-based services.
Lucy Emmerson, acting co-ordinator of the SEF, said: "On-site sexual health services enable health professionals to build on what young people learn in sex and relationships education by giving them crucial one-to-one advice about their health and wellbeing, as well as access to contraception, pregnancy and STI testing if needed."
