Quality assurance scheme for early years care.

Children in Wales has been commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government to develop a quality assurance scheme for children in early years. The scheme covers children from birth to five in childcare and from three to five in the Foundation Phase in funded, non-maintained settings.

It is being developed in conjunction with a quality assurance scheme for out-of-school childcare clubs by Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs. The aim is to enable childcare providers to demonstrate high standards of quality, as well as raise the standards in their provision. The scheme will be piloted in 10 areas and recommendations will be made by the end of March.
