Through the funding of Public Health Wales Small Awards Scheme and in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government, Children in Wales has developed and will be delivering free training to 100 health visitors across Wales.
Each year in Wales, over 145,000 children and young people attend A&E after being injured in accidents. The majority of these accidents happen within the home, with those at greatest risk being under the age of five years. Children living in areas of deprivation have a greatly increased risk of accidents and injury.
The Accidents are Preventable training project aims to address these issues by increasing the knowledge of health visitors working with those most at risk.
