NCB Now: Network debates behaviour issues

How the school community can support children and young people who are displaying challenging behaviours was debated at a meeting of NCB's Pupil Inclusion Network on 14 October.

The meeting highlighted the importance of creating healthy relationships within the school community and provided an update on the Government's 470 million investment in the National Behaviour and Attendance Strategy.

Speakers included Professor Derek Armstrong, Sheffield University, who provided an overview of his on-going research on risk and resilience in young people. Professor Armstrong has been working with experts from four other universities on a four-year research project in this area. The project is now in its final year.

Jean Gross, senior director, Primary National Strategy, DfES, spoke on the extension of a national pilot programme for developing emotional literacy.
