The association will be based in NCB's London offices. It will provide acentral support network for teachers of PSHE, giving them a focal pointto receive advice, gather and share examples of good practice andpromote existing guidance.
The Department for Education and Skills is supporting the establishmentof the association with up to 200,000 and has appointed JanCampbell to lead the initial work. Campbell has considerable experienceof working in schools and local government as well as nationally for theQualifications and Curriculum Authority.
The Government wants to enhance provision of good quality PSHE inschools and, in addition to the subject association, is looking todevelop the PSHE continuing professional development certificateprogramme, which is already based at NCB.
