NCB Now: PSHE association to be launched

The long-awaited PSHE Subject Association will be launched at the House of Lords on Tuesday 8 February.

The event, hosted by Baroness Gould of Potternewton, will hear anaddress by Lord Andrew Adonis, parliamentary under-secretary of statefor schools, as well as presentations from teachers and children at bothprimary and secondary schools.

The association, based at NCB, was established in June 2005 to provide acentral support network for teachers and other personal, social andhealth education professionals. It will give them a focal point tobetter plan, manage, deliver, evaluate and monitor PSHE provision.

By working closely with members, the association aims to developeffective practice, representing views to Government, other bodies andthe media and influencing policy and perceptions of PSHE.

Members will be offered a variety of benefits including access tocurrent and developing knowledge and expertise, examples of effectivepractice, updates, opportunities to network with other professionals, avoice in national policy development and guidance on selecting PSHEresources.
