Fifty-four of the convention's articles spell out the basic human rightsall children should have: the right to survival; to develop to thefullest; protection from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation; andto participate fully in family, cultural and social life. The four coreprinciples are non-discrimination; devotion to the best interests of thechild; the right to life, survival and development; and respect for theviews of the child.
The presentation by Young NCB representatives explained how they feltthey these principles were working in their school and community. A mainarea of concern for them was that not enough young people knew theirrights.
