Expert family engagement training

Family support charity School-Home Support (SHS) is sharing its 25 years of family engagement work through new training provision. As well as Parent Support Advisor training and Support Workers in School VQ courses, sessions such as Working With Hard to Engage Families, Understanding the Needs of Black and Minority Ethnic Communities and Practical Solutions for Working with Challenging Parents are now available in north, central and south west regions of England, as well as London.

SHS training and consultancy manager Julia Burns, who is developing and delivering the training, said: "SHS have family support workers in hundreds of different education settings. The training pulls together a range of knowledge and backgrounds across the organisation, drawing on practice from teaching, social work, psychology, with a heavily practical focus. Sharing professional tools and best practice to support the best interests of children and families is at the core of what SHS provide."
