Our best practice: Supports students through no-smoking day and beyond
The institute's Occupational Health and Student Health and Wellbeing teams joined together to promote National No-Smoking Day recently through a series of events in partnership with North East Lincolnshire's Care Trust Plus (NELCTP).
Matt Stringer, health and wellbeing adviser, said: "It was revealed that, as with any health intervention, students are more likely to access community-based services as opposed to clinical based." As a result, the institute is working with NELCTP to develop a community-based smoking cessation programme, which will allow students to access a high-quality service. While this is an issue that cannot be resolved over night, the institute recognises the importance of adopting an approach that supports individuals who want to stop smoking.
