It's been tough deciding on a focus because such a broad spectrum of professionals can be in attendance. My talks aim to engage members, and encourage them to share their experiences with other members and staff. So I've chosen policy areas that are relevant to a large number of people, such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), or the progress report on The Children's Plan.
- What have you learned from presenting NCB policy issues?
Despite almost universal support for Every Child Matters, many practitioners find the constant pace of change and announcements of new initiatives not only challenging, but also unsettling. Several members want the government to give the children's workforce some time to focus on delivering services.
