NCB Now: Improving the wellbeing of children in need

1 min read
As part of the Healthier Inside programme, designed to improve the health and wellbeing of young people in secure settings, NCB has spoken to staff working with children and young people in the secure estate, who have told us they want to feel "better connected" to the rest of the children's sector, who are often working "with the same kids".

To achieve this, NCB is bringing together three programmes - Healthier Inside, funded by the Department of Health, the Supported Youth Housing and Health Network and Healthy Care - under the name Healthy Outlooks.

NCB is aware that there are many existing networks covering a range of topics; however, too many people are not accessing this support. This is why Healthy Outlooks is open to anyone working with children and young people most in need, and will focus on helping practitioners navigate and make the most of the support that exists.

To help put practitioners in touch with appropriate support, NCB will:

- Complete a mapping exercise to gather comprehensive information about the support available for the sector and share this information via a live, dedicated web page, which will act as an information hub/portal to other networks and services
