NCB's three-year project equipped PALS with the knowledge to involve children and young people in its service. PALS is available in most hospitals and provides an ideal opportunity for children and young people to shape their healthcare. However, research by NCB in 2007 found that 75 per cent of PALS weren't actively involving children and young people in any way.
The free events held in Bristol, Birmingham and London in September, will launch the project materials, including a poster and leaflet designed by children and young people for PALS to use. Attendees will hear from PALS that are working with children, discuss the latest policy issues, notably the NHS white paper, and receive free resources to enable active participation of children and young people in their health and health services.
