An online survey from NCB, working with Play England and Young NCB,asked both young people and adults whether they supported the currentpolicy, which helps families by making bus travel in the capital freefor children and young people. An overwhelming 97 per cent felt thescheme should continue.
Young NCB member Melanie Pope hand-delivered a petition with more than1,000 names in favour of the current scheme to London mayor, KenLivingstone on 14 February, just before the final vote.
David Curtis, Young NCB co-ordinator, said: "Although this is Londonspecific, it is a nationwide issue with a number of similar schemesacross the country facing the same kind of threat. We feel youngpeople's voices sent out a strong and positive message about gettingyoung people involved in political debates."
