NCB Now: Young NCB gets voices heard

1 min read
Young NCB is a national membership network that allows children and young people to express their views and take action on policy issues that impact upon their lives.

By allowing young members to take part in consultations, organise events and meet with government ministers, Young NCB provides a platform for young people to be heard by their peers, as well as by adult decision-makers. Members also advise on work undertaken by different NCB departments and help them recruit staff.

Over the past two years, Young NCB has been working to improve access to public transport, as this affects young people all over the country. Members worked closely with NCB's research department to conduct a targeted survey on young people's views on public transport. The results revealed most young people have had overwhelmingly negative public transport experiences. Young NCB members presented theses findings to NCB's board of management and now NCB is taking on public transport as a priority of its own.
