NCB Now: DfES extends its immersion scheme

The Department of Education and Skills has extended its children's services immersion scheme to include the voluntary sector - meaning more organisations, including NCB members, can now take part.

The scheme involves department officials shadowing the work of their partner organisations, giving them a better understanding of how they operate.

Placements with schools and local authorities have shown that both parties benefit from the initiative.

"The scheme allows us to broaden our knowledge of the organisations involved in delivering positive outcomes for young people," said a DfES spokesperson.

"We are keen to hear from our partners in the voluntary sector who would like to get involved."
