The conference provides an opportunity to respond to the recent greenpaper on looked-after children. The programme will examine aspects ofthe green paper, demonstrating good practice and developing ideas forimprovement.
Parmjit Dhanda, parliamentary under-secretary of state for children,young people and families, will give the keynote address and takequestions.
The conference will also mark the launch of Fit for the Future, a fournations study of morale, recruitment and retention within theresidential care sector, and a new toolkit for providers andregulators.
The centre, based at NCB, and funded by the Department for Education andSkills, is a major collaborative initiative to improve standards ofpractice and outcomes in residential childcare in England.
