The courses will enable participants to explore the expressions of interest and pre-qualification questionnaire stages of the process. This is when organisations are asked to offer proof that they are eligible to apply and have the correct standards in place. Participants will also develop practical experience of preparing a commissioning tender.
The training is aimed at strategic managers and infrastructure support agencies from the voluntary and community sector (VCS), local authorities, trusts and other organisations with a remit of children, young people or families. Participants will undergo exercises to see how commission-ready they are before developing their skills.
Celia Watson, special projects co-ordinator at NCB, said: "It's vital that smaller VCS organisations have access to training that will enable them to compete for commissions. We know that grassroots VCS organisations have a real understanding of local needs and issues and they are uniquely placed to carry out projects. They just need support to do so."
