The death of one child in Haringey has prompted much soul-searching. Some legitimate anxieties have emerged from the process. Are inspection systems effective enough at examining a complex issue such as child protection? Have some services lost their focus on child protection, as they rightly look at the overall wellbeing of children? For children brought up in troubled families, do we have the right balance between protecting their interests and supporting the family as a whole?
