NCB Now: Children in rural areas matter

2 mins read
The Coalition for Rural Children and Young People was established in 2008 after a review of the Forum for Rural Children and Young People identified the need for a body to focus on ensuring children's policy is "rurally proofed".

Some rural families experience disadvantage and are unable to get involved in activities that could maximise the life chances of their children. These families are often hidden and their needs are not recognised because they live alongside affluent families who are able to participate fully in what life in the countryside can offer.

Comprising the charities Action for Children, The Children's Society, National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, NCB and Prince's Trust, the Coalition for Rural Children and Young People is a group that campaigns to raise awareness of the challenges and difficulties facing rural children, young people and their families.
