NCB Now: Bereaved young people tell peers: it will be ok

1 min read
A participatory video available from the Childhood Bereavement Network (CBN), based at NCB, features nine young people talking about their experience of bereavement. The group, aged 13 to 18, developed, directed and filmed the video to help their peers identify emotions and behaviour that they may experience after bereavement.

It will be ok, funded by BBC Children in Need, aims to provide support to bereaved young people by emphasising that they are not alone and that others may share their feelings.

In the video the young people, who attend childhood bereavement services across the country, talk openly about the things that have helped them.

"I think that people should open up and talk to someone," comments one girl. "Whether it's a friend or family or a support, I find that talking does help."

Another member of the group goes on to say: "The thing is not to give up and just keep going and it will be okay."
