Dolores Cristina, Maltese Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity, opened the fourth annual conference attended by around 120 international and over 60 Maltese delegates. Among them were 20 young people from Germany, the UK, Cyprus, Malta and other countries, who discussed their views and actively took part in and facilitated one of the workshops.
The conference focused on three issues crucial in preventing social exclusion and poverty among children and young people in Europe: family and parenting support, child and youth participation and early years education and care.
Each theme was explored through workshops and participants had the opportunity to hear a representative from the European Commission about child poverty in the EU's social inclusion agenda.
