Compare and contrast the following two scenarios.

Many young people do not believe their education has prepared them for the world of work and two out of three teenagers fear they will not find a job for years, new research has found. These stark and rather scary statistics are from a study by the Edge Learner Forum's Youth Commission, which drew on interviews with 1,200 young people and a survey of a further 6,000.

It concluded that doubt about the worth of their schooling sets in as teenagers get older, as do fears about the effect of the recession on their long-term employment prospects. Just 53 per cent of over-17s believe that their education has helped them prepare for employment, while 64 per cent think the recession will have a long-term effect on their employability.
