There are hundreds of well-known aphorisms about money. It doesn't grow on trees, you know (unless you're a successful cider maker perhaps).

The Bible (first book of Timothy) adds "the love of money is the root of all evil". Well, maybe, maybe not. And the musical Cabaret reminds us that "Money makes the world go round", not gravity.

Given the choice of being poor or being rich, who of us would select the first option? But in the tough financial world we find ourselves in at present, not everybody's boat is going to come in laden with treasures.

Wherever we may find ourselves fitting on the sliding scale between poverty and squillions, it makes absolute sense to empower ourselves around our own finances and marshal our own resources appropriately and as wisely as we can.
