We all had our aspirations, most I'm sure based around television drama series and the role models they featured, alongside those characters, real or imagined, found in the pages of books and magazines. On this basis then probably not many people would have plumped for youth worker as the automatic "that's the one for me" choice.
Which makes it all the more interesting that, according to a survey carried out by youth charity Rathbone, the most popular job desired by the respondents was youth worker. The survey spoke to young people aged between 14 and 21 from disadvantaged backgrounds.
This simple finding speaks volumes I think about the impact that youth workers can and do have on the lives of the young people they come into contact with, and how they can positively affect their futures and transform their life circumstances.
