National Youth Agency: Comment - Restoring your faith

1 min read
It's enough to restore your faith - in human nature that is, should you be in need of it.

The other week I was fortunate enough to receive an invitation to attend the launch of the first Inter Faith Week. The faith week happened last week with lots of events and activities up and down the country, and let's hope it was a resounding success and will become a regular feature on the calendar.

Inter Faith Week set out to encourage local faith groups and communities to reach out to each other and build strong bonds of understanding and co-operation. And to increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK.

Now it would take the most miserable and churlish of old curmudgeons not to welcome this initiative and to take exception to the week and the principles underpinning it. So, of course I don't. This was reinforced indeed by the messages coming from government and opposition politicians and those from different faiths and none. While this is very supportive, it can all start to sound a bit samey.
