So, riddle me this for starters. There is a school in the New Forest that keeps pigs in support of the curriculum. Excellent. At this time of year they can graze the animals in the forest for acorns. Except in recent years there has been trouble because the piggies have been roaming where they're not wanted. Yet the piggies cannot stray unless they can get past the impassable cattle grids. How can the pigs possibly do this? Read on.
Tuesday: I visit a social work team that experienced a staffing crisis earlier in the year. We have managed to avoid the worst ravages of the national shortage, but it doesn't take much to destabilise a small team and then the recovery is always slow. The staff are determined and supporting each other well. It's improving but I come away with a list of what more we might do - and of what more must happen nationally.
