MONDAY - Spend most of the day learning about the MK Approach. It's the council's new approach to managing projects. We're busy people and taking time out to explore project management methodology may not feel like a top priority. But if we're going to improve outcomes then it's essential that we have a framework like this that helps us work more effectively across the organisation.

TUESDAY - I take part in a telephone conference with an adviser helping us set up our new children's trust commissioning groups. Last week we took part in a residential event and all came back determined to get it right. You could say we came back "on a mission". But the impressive 120-mile network of pathways that criss-cross the town makes it a lot easier to get around. If you thought Milton Keynes was just about the roundabouts, then think again. The meeting is a difficult one but we're making progress.
