It begins in Westminster. I'm acting as a special adviser to the Parliamentary Select Committee inquiry on social work training. Two debates - one involving the higher education sector and the other on some of the workforce quangos. The MPs are well informed and determined in their questioning. The witnesses are constructive and open. But there's an unavoidable tension. Why are employers so frustrated with the readiness of new recruits and why are the universities so frustrated with the availability of quality placements? Discuss.
In the background, meanwhile, the Westminster air hums with its own gossip.
Tuesday: We interview for a new senior school improvement manager in Hampshire. We make a fantastic appointment - an excellent educationalist who can articulate the meaning of a 21st-century school in the broadest sense. The future's bright.
