My Week - Lucie could give Scouts the X factor

Tuesday: I'm fascinated to read that the Danish government is allowing pupils full access to the internet during their final school year exams. Apparently they can access any site they like, even Facebook. The Danes have taken the bold step in recognition of the increasingly important role the internet plays in our lives and in the belief that it is anachronistic to ban its use in exams. Can we imagine our government making such an imaginative decision to modernise our Victorian education system?

Wednesday: At the HQ of Breast Cancer Care in London to launch the new intake of our Future Leaders programme. Over the next six months we'll be supporting 25 organisations to increase the involvement of young people in their strategic direction. We're starting to attract the royalty of the youth sector in the shape of the NSPCC and The Children's Society alongside a range of smaller agencies.

Friday: Lunch with a colleague who recently dined with Ken Livingstone. Apparently, Ken was enthusing about a book called The Spirit Level, which identifies a link between antisocial behaviour and social inequalities. In Japan and the Scandinavian countries that have a flatter social and financial hierarchy, antisocial behaviour is minimal.
