My Life: Sophie Wye, 14, Staffordshire

1 min read
I was given a Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Award for looking after my sister and still managing to get my homework done. My sister, Eleanor, has learning difficulties. She has trouble with her speaking and is behind in her brain by a couple of years. I have looked after her since she was born nine years ago.

She's really funny the things she does. She mimics people, particularly my mum and my dad.

I put videos on for her to watch while I do my homework and cook her cheese on toast. I look after her most of the time. I look after her because I know her better than anyone else, apart from my mum. It's something that's happened in my life that I have to do.

When I'm older I'd like to do something to do with computers. ICT is my favourite subject at school. But I'm also interested in doing something to help people. It's really good when you feel like you help them to get on with their lives no matter what they've got.
