My Life: Lucy Reynolds, 17, Cornwall

1 min read
I live with my mum, my sister, my brother-in-law, niece and nephew. I'm in the sixth form at school and am going to do psychology at university. I want to do developmental psychology because I have spent a lot of time working with children, especially working as a Millennium Volunteer. I did 200 hours of work with groups of Brownies and Rainbows and at a playscheme for children with autism.

I was in the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides myself. For one of the Guide badges you had to work with Rainbows, helping the younger ones. I did that with the Duke of Edinburgh Award and that involved voluntary work in a nursery. It is good working there because you get to know about the children and watch them develop.

I'm also quite into politics and am in the Right Here, Right Now lobby group, making the case for a children's rights commissioner for England.

We've spent three years campaigning in the House of Commons and lobbying MPs. We hope if we get the right person then they will support the ideas anyway.
