My life: Beckie Hartley, 16, Lincoln

1 min read
I'm a member of Nacro's Revolution Arts Academy in Lincoln. Earlier this year, we discovered we had been selected to perform Show and Tell by Laline Paull in London at the National Theatre, as part of the National Theatre Connections, a youth theatre celebration. The thought of performing at one of the most famous theatres in the world was very scary but also exciting.

As a team, we all knew that this was our biggest challenge yet, so wemade the show our top priority and worked hard in rehearsals to improvethe standard of our show. Some people had to make sacrifices but we allknew that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and there was no waywe were letting it go.

The past seven months have taught me so much and I've loved every minuteof it. I'm sure everyone else would say the same. Being part of Show andTell has also made me a better person; I've become better friends withother members of the youth theatre. We all work together really well asa team, but we're more like one big family. I also learnt to believe inmyself, because performing in London made me realise dreams really docome true.
