I'd entered a writing competition a while ago where you had to write a short story, rap, or poem on slavery to celebrate the abolition of the slave trade 200 years ago and I won.

I then appeared on Radio 4's children's programme Go4it!.

When I arrived at the BBC's Broadcasting House a week later my heart wasin my mouth but I soon relaxed, everyone was really welcoming and theshow was recorded, it wasn't live.

Then it was time for my interview along with Jamaican poet ValerieBloom, author Malorie Blackman, presenter Barney Harwood and Kevin, thewinner of the poetry competition.

Barney asked me how I felt to be free and not a slave.

Then I heard my story dramatised, read out by a proper actress, she wasgreat. I felt a bit embarrassed, hearing my story on the radio buteveryone else said it was really good.
