My life: Danny Day 19, Gateshead

1 min read
I ran away from home when I was seven and I was put in emergency placements. Then I went into foster care. I went to a foster carer who had her own children and we didn't get on.

I then went to foster carers called Delmer and Jimmy. They had beenfostering for more than 30 years. I see them as my real parents. I movedin with them when I was 11, they gave me the stability and comfort thatevery child needs in foster care.

I went on to do my GCSEs and A-levels, then got a job at GatesheadCouncil as a business administration assistant and I have worked therefor nine months.

My main aim in life is to become a social worker or help out along thelines of that and give something back to the local authority that helpedme.

Delmer and Jimmy helped me financially and taught me how to manage mymoney so that when I move out I will be able to budget.
