I'd never have thought while I was practising putting someone in the recovery position on that first aid course that I'd end up being an ambassador for cadets up and down the country.
I've had the privilege of experiencing a lot of different roles - from being a radio controller at Chelsea football stadium, treatment centre manager at the London Marathon and a first aider at many different events.
I never thought I would be able to take part and be trusted in so many different roles that require so much responsibility (especially at my age).
I also have the enjoyment of teaching other cadets life-saving skills. It's humbling to be teaching a first aid skill to cadets at one of our weekly meetings and then see them using that same skill to treat a patient the following week - sometimes in a life-threatening situation.
