Griffiths is serving a four-year sentence for attempted robbery and GBH at Rochester Young Offender Institution in Kent and is not the type of young person who would ordinarily take part in such public displays. But after attending a four-day programme of music workshops, he is happily playing and singing along with the ensemble of musicians and young offenders.
"I've surprised myself," says Griffiths. "I never thought I'd be up for this kind of thing. But learning to write lyrics and play instruments has been great. It has opened my eyes to trying new things."
Called Making Tracks, the music programme is run by Create, a London-based arts charity that specialises in working with vulnerable young people.
