Music: Manchester to run inclusion schemes

The 381,000 On Top of the World programme is being run by Greater Manchester Music Action Zone with Bolton YMCA, Rochdale Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, Salford City Council, Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and the Root Music project in Oldham.

It is hoped the projects will reach about 1,000 under-19s. Planned projects include a vocal academy and music-making sessions for 13- to 18 year-olds.

A spokeswoman for the music action zone said: "The idea is to reach disadvantaged young people who wouldn't normally have access to different music opportunities."
