Youth for Christ to run music project

Youth Work
Faith-based charity Youth for Christ is to use music to help young offenders turn their lives around.

The Urban Skillz project will see young people taking part in a range of creative music workshops, which will be run through the charity's groups across the UK.

The workshops, led by professional tutors, will cover topics such as music production, DJing and MCing. The aim is to boost young people's self-esteem, help them gain new skills and develop their creativity.

Adam Brown, the programme's co-ordinator, said Urban Skillz would give young people a path away from crime.

"Urban Skillz is a great way to engage with young people and demonstrate a positive attitude towards urban culture," he said. "Music can allow young people to express themselves and through this project we can help them reach their potential."
