Multiple foster moves revealed

New government figures have revealed that 80 care leavers last year had more than 20 foster placements during their time in care.

The figures, outlining details of foster placement moves for children who left care during the year ending 31 March 2008, were announced by children's minister Beverly Hughes, in answer to a question from shadow children's minister Tim Loughton.

Of the 150 local authorities in England, 32 had children with more than 20 foster placements during their period in care. Also, 20 children had more than 30 foster placement moves.
