The new post, which starts in August, will also be responsible for thehealth of all vulnerable young people, including young offenders.
Sarah Carter, who holds the current post at the Government Office forthe South East, said the job description was broadened after researchshowed the two services were "quite siloed". Looked-after childrenneeded more support to use services such as contraception, she said.
She said the new co-ordinator would initially gauge how the Healthy Careprogramme, which promotes the health of looked-after children, wasworking and support areas where there were gaps.
