
The former chair of the Teenage Pregnancy Independent Advisory Group (TPIAG) is calling on the government to urgently clarify its plans regarding young people's sexual health amid a wave of teenage pregnancy co-ordinator redundancies.
Gill Frances told CYP Now that a number of councils are cutting the post of teenage pregnancy co-ordinators completely.
"In some areas they're making 10 or 20 per cent cuts but in other areas they've cut all the teenage pregnancy co-ordination completely," she said. "If you're going to address teenage pregnancy, you need to have strong leadership and people who are going to deliver on sex education and young people's services. If people cut these things, then they're going to see teenage pregnancy rates rise."
