Looked-after Children: Programme will focus on wellbeing

A new 250,000 programme focusing on the health and wellbeing of looked-after children was announced yesterday (15 March) by the Department for Education and Skills.

It will take forward the work of Healthy Care, developed by the National Children's Bureau, that provides a multi-agency framework to improve the health of looked-after children.

Two new resources have also been published. The Healthy Care Programme Handbook includes resources to help local partnerships improve the physical, mental and emotional health of children in care. And Carers Can! is a new magazine for foster carers and residential social workers.
