London settings face rising rent

More than one in five childcare settings in London are struggling to stay open due to rising rent levels, according to research by the Daycare Trust seen exclusively by CYP Now.

The charity conducted the survey last month to inform the creation of anew London childcare providers forum. Of the 108 group settings thattook part, 23 claimed to be suffering with sustainability issues due torent rises.

Private owners were top of the league table of those responsible forupping the rent, followed closely by local authorities and thenchurches.
