Survey into rent hikes for London childcare settings

Early Years
The London Development Agency (LDA) has teamed up with Daycare Trust to determine the impact of rent increases on early years settings in the capital.

The action is being taken after the LDA raised concerns that some early years providers have been subject to massive rent increases from their councils, making it difficult for them to provide affordable childcare.

Providers in London will be asked what they are currently paying and how this compares to previous rates. The question is part of a wider survey being conducted by Daycare Trust, which will inform work on a pan-London childcare network.

A spokesman for Daycare Trust said: "This survey gives an unprecedented opportunity for all childcare settings in London to highlight their top issues."

Surveys will be sent out to providers shortly. The deadline for responses is 15 May.
